Rick seemed concerned. "Re-ordering the paradigms of
thought we use to construct reality. Like a painting.
Picasso's images don't look the same as Van Gogh's. Picasso
is more primal, more universal. But both images are
constructs of the artists reality of the world.
"We don't live in a Van Gogh or a Picasso."
"Appearance wise, no. But in terms of the mathematical
construct of our understanding we do. What we choose to
listen to, choose to wear, read, hear, . . . think can
all be broken down mathematically. Project that number along
a time-place coordinate at the speed of light and you can
construct any world you want, purely in thought."
"Like a hologram."
Rick smiled. "After your Afghanistan adventures this
shouldn't seem a surprise. Afghanistan was one of the first
places on earth that myth transformed from thought into
conscious reality-the home of the god Mithra. Think about
the etymology of the word. Myth and Ra. Truth and Light.
It's a thought form brought to life. That's why we consider
it the place where the Western Dream was born. Isn't that
what you said in the Apostle's Diary?
He'd caught me off guard. "Yes. But we're in the material
world Rick. There are still rules."
Rick averted his eyes. "We're surpassing the physical
limitations every day. I know, I've seen it. Back in the
30's a German philosopher began looking at the origins of
human consciousness. He determined that the narrow,
rational, three dimensional way we viewed the world wasn't
only holding us back from understanding new discoveries in
physics, it was holding us back from where our consciousness
wanted to take us. He broke the development of human
consciousness down into stages, the magical, the mythical
and the rational. In the magical, our understanding was
childlike and so was our behavior. In the mythical, the gods
and goddesses were real and could be appealed to for help.
Then in the rational we narrowed the world to only those
things we perceived could be controlled and created the
world we live in today. The problem is, the material world
has reached its limits too. We've reached a dead end. Until
